    Introduction

I joined Leo Club of Kathmandu Creative around three years ago and these three years have been the most important part of my life. The things I have learnt as a member of the Leo Club is something I attribute the most to the person I have become today. In this post, let me summarize my journey into three parts: the initiation phase, the learning, and the things I suggest you.

    Initiation:

The idea for joining the Leo Club was brought to me by my friend, Sushant. Shoutout to Sushant for coming up with this idea!! Sushant came up with a plan to join a club to engage during our leisure. I had just joined high school and I had a lot of spare time and the idea to engage in something new and interesting quickly convinced me to hop in. For the next two months, both of us searched a lot and asked a lot of people about where we could join. Somehow, Sushant got in contact with a senior in his network who introduced us to the club. I still remember the evening when we talked with Saksha Dd and Nisha Dd about how things work in the club and convinced us to join the club. LEO CLUB OF KATHMANDU CREATIVE, the name was interesting but all I was interested in was to explore another dimension of life and a new perspective of living.

The first event that we joined in was a hiking program held at Shivapuri National Park. I got introduced with the entire team of Creaive (short for the name of the club). The people were great and I was really proud of myself for deciding to join the club when I got the know how many people were there from varieites of professional background. Though I did not get to know the members on a personal level on the first day itself, over the next year I was to realize that this club would become a part of my identity, my growth as well as my career. The end of very first day, I had made so many friends and I felt as if I had known Nishant dai and Milan dai for ages.

    My Learnings in the club

My journey in the Leo Club is not that long but within this short time span I could make memories and learn things that if I were to strive all on my own, would take me atleast a decade. The very next Lionistic Year that began just a few months after we joined the club, I was given a shared responsibility of the IT Chairman of the executive board of the club. It was a shock to me and thanks to Nishant Dai, the then president, who trusted me for this role, that I was given a place in the board. For one complete year, I left no stones unturned to understand the ins and outs of the clubs, its operation and the various dimensions of the society. There were things for me to learn everywhere and I was at every place to gain the knowledge and skills. I got chance to realizee about my love for graphic design, my skills for coordination and the reality of my capabilities while I conducted and coordinated different events of the club. I was the youngest member of the club for a long time but I was so pleased with the opportunities that the club provided me to work on myself and the world around me among people who were the most like minded and the most pleasant to work with. Undoubtedly, the board of Nishant dai was something unmatchable in the entire Leo District Council ( Leo District Council is a cluster of Leo Clubs).

After a year of dedication as an active member and staying up late nights for designing, editing and planning for events, I was selected as the Joint Secretary and have been continuing to serve in the position for this Lionistic Year. Though I could not be as active this year due to my career works and study related business, I have learnt even more this year due to my grown proximity with the members of the club as well as the district. Beyond the social service events and the personality development opportunities, I have got a lot of tangible as well as intangible stuffs from the club; great friends, a better mindset, skills of designing and leadership, to name a few!

Moreover, I got chance to enhance my designing and editing skills during my participation in the club. I also got introduced to Milan dai who provided me chances to learn designing and explore the field even more from a professional standpoint. Thanks to him!

    Suggestions to you

After completing a short time period in the club, am I an expert in the field? Of course not! I am just a beginner in the field and while I see people serving in the club for more than a decade, I realize that I have got a lot yet left to explore and learn and ezperience but I am sure that I am on the right path. Three years is a beginning but surely a sweet one as I have got chance to feed and nurture the inquisitive kid in me that wants to impact on the world with good deeds. I am proud of the high school junior who decided to follow this path and inspire a lot of my friends to join and follow me on this journey.

Does that mean that everything has been perfect all these years? Of course not! There have been days when things were tough, days when I had fights with friends, lost some of my dearest ones due to simple misunderstandings and days when I had hectic schedule amidst everything from studies to gathering sponsors for the events. Looking back I realize that was where the majority of learning were found. Learning was what I craved and what makes me want to stay in the club for longer time.
What I recommend you is that social service is a field that every teenager has to explore in his early years. It will surely provide a new horizon and perspective to your thoughts and vision. It is not just about seerving the soceity but even more if not as much about knowing yourself, the people like Milan Dai and Nishant Dai and exploring the world around you.

If you are somebody in the vincinity of Kathmandu, I surely recommend you to join LC Kathmandu Creative. Do fill up the form below and someone in the team will get int touch with you shortly.
